My Mom caught me, once I got to the car, I think she saw it. She made me go back in, march right up to the Office at Montgomery Wards and return the item. I was so embarrassed and she made me write them a three page letter of apology to them, which I also had to hand deliver. I was on restriction for a month for that one.
I hope this worked. I worry about our youth this day and age.
when i was in the fourth grade i stole some marbles at school, this kid followed me home after school and told my mom, they were not even his marbles. my mom got out the bible and started preaching and crying until i throwed up. i never touched another marble. the next day i got sent home from school for beating the snot out of that punk assed little tattle tale, i got my butt whipped but no bible this time, i could handle that.
I had a friend, JD, one night she came over and said get pretty and put on a short dress, and we have to go to Midnight Auto Parts. I didn’t know what she was talking about so I got ready and put on a mini skirt and heels. She drove me down to the automobile dealership and said: “You go keep the salesmen busy while I go get some stuff.” I walked up to a salesman and in about two minutes I had eight or so salesmen talking to me. Jody walked up after a few minutes and we both smiled and flirted with the guys for awhile and then we left. When we got back to her truck she pulled a gas cap and antenna out of her bag. I was an unwilling accomplice to auto accessory theft.

Good on her! I told my kids the same, if ever need be I'll get them charged, I hope it scares them off good enough.
