Can't Blame White People
by BILL COSBY

"They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk, Why you ain't, Where you is, What he drive, Where he stay, Where he work, Who you be... And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk. Everybody knows it's important to speak English... except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics. I am talking about these people who cry... when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18...? And how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father? People putting their clothes on backwards. Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong? People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something? Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up? Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles piercing going through her body? What part of Africa did this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans, they don't know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua, and Mohammed, and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail. Brown or Black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem. We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids saying, "you are hurting us". We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer. It is not for the media or anyone of this time anymore to say whether I'm right or I'm wrong. It is time, ladies and gentlemen, to look at the numbers. Fifty percent of our children are dropping out of high school. Sixty percent of the incarcerated males happen to be illiterate. There's a correlation. Tell the media to stop asking me what I think about people who don't believe what I'm saying or feel that I'm too harsh or feel that I'm just running my mouth because I'm old. Seventy percent of the teenagers pregnant happen to be African American girls. Don't ask me to soften my message." - Bill Cosby
It's not just black kids and young black people it's all colors, white, tan, and red.
You just have to love Bill.

i learned a lot from him on how to raise a child (no kidding at all) you take the right amount of bill cosby, andy griffith, and throw in a dash of rozanne and you have the perfect parent.

that brady bunch crap don't cut it.

i ran away when i was 5, my mom packed my stuff for me (in a clear plastic bag so my underwear would show) then called all of the neighbors and told them not to let me in, she wouldn't even tie my shoes. she locked the door and would not let me back in. she always kept her calm when she was teaching me a lesson (when i was young). when i was older and past the point of learning she would scream and yell at me, she would get so mad she would call me a S.O.B. when i was 16 i told her to shut up and take her midol. i was laying in the floor of my bedroom crying when my dad got home from work. he came up and laughed at me, she beat me until i smelled bad. he never said a word, he just laughed and went back down stairs. when i was 17 i stood up to him and told him i was a man, i was laying in the living room floor where he left me crying and bleeding (and a little wet) my mom came in and laughed at me and told me i smelled bad. that's how my parents raised us, stay calm, beat that ass, and laughter.

You've had a rough row to hoe. My dad was free with the switch, he's a Southern Baptist. As a result, I never spanked my kids in their entire lives, and I don't see that they are any the worse for it. I didn't get on with my dad til I was grown up and in the Marines because of his disciplinary measures.

this is a true comment, my parents whipped us (me a lot) but i never once thought i was beat, or said "i'll call the cops or child protective services" my parents were southern baptist also, i loved them dearly. as you can tell i tend to be a nut sometimes and i probably needed whipping (a lot) i've only spanked my kid a handfull of times and it was when she was little, i never did it while i was mad and i had firm ass whipping rules, get in the road, lie, or hurt someones out of meaness and you get an ass whipping. she's a damn good kid snd i think she would rather i whipped her than yell at her.

i believe in spanking, i think it gets attention more than it punishes, i don't believe in beatings and i've called the police before when i saw someone getting to heavy handed with there kids (8 cars rolled up in seconds, best response i ever saw from the law) i also believe in not spanking your kids, if you can do it another way, thet's great. i left a red mark on emily's leg one time when i missed her butt, i cried and tried to make her hit me and she wouldn't, she just cried harder. if you want your kids to turn out better than you, my job was done a long time ago.

Chuck, Mama Clara and i thank you for the well wishes. Yea, that quilt is priceless. Its made out of wool suit samples, pretty neat. She also made mens suits. On to the spanking. My dad used to spank my brother and myself a lot. He would make us go pick out the belt he would use on us. You did not know whether to get a thick, thin or whatever. We would hide all our belts. But he would just use his. We would get maintenance whippings. " oh its been a week, its time for a whipping", not really. But this day and time he would spend a lot of time in jail for all the whelps he'd leave on our ass for days at at time. I'll tell you I hated him for many years. Not once did I ever hear him yell at mom or ever hurt her. They've been married 50 years. Enough of that, Bill Cosby is one of a kind man. It was terrible when his son was murdered in Cal. I wonder if the cops ever solved that case? See ya

This I applaud!!! If you look in my archives, I have many a statement pertaining to this. I lived it, breathed it, looked at it and saw it for what it is...reverse discrimination and if you'd heard the rest of my interview on the radio, I told them,"If you are taught that you are discriminated you will believe it. But if you are taught that you have a chance like anyone else, you might just go for it. None of my sons went to college on a United negro College Fund. Their Daddy was dead and nobody gave a fuck cause they were white. Don't get me started, holy fuck!!! If you'd seen what I've seen you'd feel the same way. ***Now,very important notation, I was raised by black women, who worked hard for their money taking care of me.That's a whole other post but when I cried it wasn't to Mama, it was to Juanita, my nanny. My first kiss, I told Juanita, who got fired for stepping to my mother for beating me till I bled, Juanita. But as she was wiping the blood from my legs, she told me,"those freckles you got there girl...that's the soul just drippin' outa you." I loved Juanita but I hate people who are ignorant and think I am too so you can con me cause you think I'm white, huh? OK, I'll step back and punt now!

being predjudice is a hard thing to explain, i would reach my hand out to anyone no matter what the color or race. wouldn't have to give it a thought. but because i know there is a difference i'm predjudice. i try and make up for it by hating white people.

i heard a black man say one time it's not if you've had black people in your home before, it's if you can count how many black people you've had in your home that makes you predjudice.
