Will Sampson, An Oklahoma Son

Will Sampson 1934 - 1987 ~ Muscogee Creek Indian 1st, painter 2nd & actor 3rd~ Born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Will Sampson died on June 3, 1987, of complications after a heart-lung transplant. He is buried in Grave Creek Indian Cemetery in the heart of Muscogee Nation.

I love the fact that he opened the door for Native American actors, as an Arizona native it was hard to watch a western and see all the Native American parts in western movies filled by white and Italian actors. There is an entire generation of Americans who think Apaches look like Italians!

you see him in a movie and might think he's strange because he played the part as an indian not what hollywood taught us an indian was.

az - you mean that anthony quinn and that rickardo montalban guy from fantasy island weren't apaches?
