Oklahoma Centennial

Oklahoma celebrates it's 100 years of statehood this year. It was the 46th State incorporated into the Union. Before statehood it was known as Indian Territory and before that it was part of the Louisiana Purchase. The word “Oklahoma” comes from two Choctaw words that mean, Land of the Red Man.

This is a Redbud tree (Cercis Canadensis) it is the state tree of Oklahoma, I have one in my front yard.
