Did you know Roy left the music business after, first his wife was killed and then his son., I believe. I think he left music for 8 years. I used to play his albums in my room when I was a kid(always on restriction in my room)and sing,Crying, over and over. Him and believe it or not, Bobby Vinton. So, I kept those two albums and Patsy Cline in my room. My poor parents! Yes chuck, you need a little sun!

Is nothing sacred to this man?

Babs, you have a good memory. He lost two little boys when his home burned down while he was touring. The guy lost everybody who meant anything to him. Patsy Cline! Now that was country music! Not this sugary, pop , Brittany Spears stuff they call country today. Merl Haggart, Hank Williams, Charlie Pride, Waylon Jennings. Those were the days. We shall not see their like again.

chuck honey, excuse my rudeness while I talk to your buddy montanus. You sure got that right!! My son is named after Waylon Jennings and Charlie Pride, what a musician, haven't heard any of that good stuff in a while. Loved Hank and Bocefus carried on. Now, there's another inspiring story about Hank, Jr. He keeps a beard because of all the scarring he's got on his face.I saw him in concert with Sawyer Brown and I think Gene Watson and the concert opened with the video of him and his Dad singing together,a moment to remember! Just to think back to the days of Hee Haw when life wasn't so damn complicated and for you guys it was what were the girls, Irlene? wearing??

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars

She wore blue velvet
Bluer than velvet were her eyes
Warmer than May her tender sighs
Love was ours

Ours a love I held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
But when she left,
Gone was the glow of

Blue velvet
But in my heart
There'll always be
Precious and warm,
A memory
Through the years
And I still can see
Blue velvet
Through my tears.

The first 45 my sister ever purchased by the Juke Box record store! We wore the groves off that 45.

AZCG - great song, i'm tempted to ask your age, but i won't. my first 45 was John Denver - "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (1971) of course i got it around 72 or 73.

Di - Unbelievable ! You probably are the only one that remembers that. I sure don't, 67 ? weren't you about 4 years old then ? I used to watch a lot of old movies with my Dad, I may have seen that but just don't rememeber. That's funny.

I want some red roses for a blue lady,
Mr. Florist take my order please,
and if they do the trick,
I'll hurry back to pick,
the best white orchid for her wedding gown!!
Anybody remember that one?

or...
I am a lineman for county,
and I drive the main rode...

or...
And Honey, I miss you and I'm feeling good,
and I long to be near you, if only I could.
See, the tree how big it's grown...

AZCG - i'm not buyin' it... how'd that go again ? "In my convertible going 90mph, driving from Jackson Hole to Phoenix through the Painted Desert wearing a bikini with Bon Jovi blasting on the stereo, smoking a joint... Now that don't sound like no older woman to me. i'm 41 and bon jovi was big during my time.

I've been racking my old brain trying to remember the exact year of my Jackson Hole trip! As best as I can remember it was late '85-'86. So I must have been in my mid 30's. The only reason I was wearing a bikini was because I WAS GOING 90 MPH -- nobody can see much at that speed!

age means nothing here, i'll still picture you as 35, raven black hair, and big dark brown eyes.
