"The Beginning To The End"
(hi-a a-ni-gi-s-di hi-a u-li-s-dv)
At first we stood our ground
It was our ground to stand
We stood against a new enemy
A new kind of man
We stood for our families
We stood for our people
We stood as long as we could
We stood till it did no good
We watched our fathers die
We watched our children cry
We had our families run and hide
We tried to fight but most of us died
We couldn’t stay any longer
The white man was much stronger
The time came when we to had to run
We could not win against his gun
We moved to a strange new place
We left to try and save our race
A thousand years my people had lived well
In the end we just couldn’t live in the white man’s Hell

hmmm... i have mixed feelings on this poem, but it is rather good. It evokes a lot of spirit and a lot of emotion. Weather it is mixed or not.

I just mean that I really love the poem itself. it is beautiful, and sad, and understanding.

But the message brings across many a debate for me. Just because I happen to be white (OMG, did you know.. hehe =P) and I grew up in an area that was prone to fighting over land and native related issues, and Inuit issues, and just issues (re: the northwest terrirories and Nunavuit). So I was in defence mode alot. I really would prefer not to start this particular arguement though. I get nasty, and you will get nasty and the whole thing sickens me. So let it be. okay. :)

You know i'm pretty damn white myself and it's a torn situation with me, i'm a white indian of the south who loves his country, i can't really hate anyone (and don't want to either) consider it let be. i didn't put my name on it to see how people would react anyway, that's why i asked. always have a good one. :)

I would put my name on it if you wrote it. Like I said, it;s excellent. Expecially the view. I can understand it. Don't see what there would be to be anywhere ashamed off in that poem.

One of the best things about writing is it;s unlimited creativeness. You don't have to 100% belaive something for it to convey a solid message. But you have to have the thought process. Which you do.

Sign your name to it. it's beautiful.
